Why You Should Create a Camping Checklist for Yourself

Are you interested in going on an adventure?  Whether you would like to go alone, with a group of your friends, with your family, or cozying up with your romantic partner, you will need to bring multiple pieces of camping equipment with you, as well as other safety items, and camping supplies. In this article, I share with you the important points about having a checklist and some of the core products I recommend for having a fun, comfortable and safe vacation!

First thing I’d suggest, is researching and buying a well made backpack for hiking and camping, like the red one to the left! I love this one. It has numerous pockets and is waterproof. Plus, this backpack is offered at Lu Treks Travel Shop for an incredible sale price for a limited time. I also love this hand crank portable Emergency LED flashlight (to the left) also sold at the Lu Treks Travel Shop!

Are you one of those who, like most campers often realize too late into their adventure, that they didn’t bring everything that they wanted to, or worse, needed to bring!  To prevent yourself from becoming one of those sorry campers, you may want to create at least a basic starter camping checklist for yourself, as there are a number of benefits to doing so. I’ve highlighted key products here that I always take with me on my trip and where you can buy them. Look over these products I’ve chosen to share here in this post, to help you start building your core list.

One of the first items I always pack for backpacking and camping, is an inflatable light weight sleeping pad like the one shown on the right. The more hard core campers can skip this. But, I prefer a comfy night’s sleep. The other item I pack is an ultra light weight warm sleeping bag, like the one shown to the left. With these two items to start, you count on a warm & cozy night’s sleep — after hours of arduous hiking to the campsite! You’ll then feel far more rested the next day for a full day of adventures and exploration.

Aside from the benefit of having key items I’ve listed above, other benefits of creating a checklist for yourself is that you are less likely to forget to bring the more important pieces of camping equipment and supplies.  When it comes to camping, most often wish to bring certain items, but forget key items while packing in a rush to leave.  Just start listing items, such as those listed on this page. Then, as the week progresses towards the date of your departure, you’ll have a better idea of what you have already, and what you need to purchase to make your packing list complete.

I’ve included my favorite list at the bottom of this article for your quick referenceTwo other important items I always bring with me — for all my travels are 1) a good rechargable LED headlamp like the one to the left (which is solar-powered!) and 2) an expert water filtration system like the one shown to the left, which is offered at a discounted price here at the LuTreks Travel Shop!

Another benefit is that it makes it easy to go shopping for all of your supplies. In addition to forgetting to pack something important, many campers draw a blank once they get to the store.  To help ensure that you buy all of the camping supplies and equipment pieces that you need, you may want to create a camping checklist for yourself and make sure that you bring it with you when you go shopping! Having this list makes your trip preparation that much easier.

One critical item to add to your list is a well stocked First Aid kit, like the one shown to the left. Once you select your kit, take the time to go through the items and familiarize yourself with each of them and their use. Often times, there will be a First Aid Guide inside the kit to provide instructions in the event of injury and emergencies. It’s best to review this guide prior to needing it when people’s thinking will be frantic in the middle of mishap!

Yet another one of the many benefits to creating a camping checklist for your next camping adventure is that it is easy to do. Many people can make their camping checklists in as little as ten or fifteen minutes. What you will want to do is sit down with a pen and a piece of paper and start writing. You will want to think of everything that you will need to go camping.  One of the best ways to create a camping checklist for yourself is to go through your daily activities. For instance, you will need a camping tent like the one shown to the left (available in the LuTreks Travel Shop), and a sleeping bag to sleep (like the one pictured above – also in the LuTreks Travel Shop.

When it comes to your food, you may want to add a cooler, hamburger meat, ketchup, mustard, rolls and so forth to your camping checklist. When you’re thinking about your grocery list, don’t forget to add a water purification system, like the one shown to the left.. which is also on sale!

Although it is more than possible for you to create your own camping checklist, you should be able to find camping checklist templates or detailed camping checklists online like my favorite one which I’ll put in a link below.  Many of these checklists are easy to find and print.  You should be able to find additional printable camping checklists by performing a standard internet search for quick reference camping checklists. Despite the fact that most camping checklists are detailed, you may still want to review the checklist in question and add anything that you may feel is left out or remove something from the list that you don’t think is needed.

Of course, creating a camping checklist for yourself is something that is completely optional, but it may help to make your next camping adventure a memorable and a pleasant one. With camping checklists being easy to create, why wouldn’t you at least want to give making one a chance?  You may actually be surprised just how much a simple checklist helps to improve your next camping adventure.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be adding my favorite camping checklists to start building your own list. Stay tuned. I’ll notify you through my newsletter. My list is probably more extensive than most. But, it’s better to at least have an idea of all items to consider. It’s better to at least have one too many items than missing the critical item you need! For those who want the ultimate ultralight camping experience, visit this great article here at this link: Macon’s Ultralight list.

For those of you who still want a bit more comfort and don’t mind packing this super light & comfy chair, you can get at a discount here (see left) King Camp Low Sling Beach Chair! This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the all important core camping clothes! Many of the clothes you already have in storage. But, if you want something fresh and new with better thermal technology, there are several clothing items in my store for that! Here is one my all time favorite items, women’s thermal base layer!

So this is how I start my camping check list and, hopefully, you’ll use this information to start yours.
